Comfortably quirky

We had the loft room, which was roomy, comfortable and bright. Breakfast was good, plenty to eat and Anthony always made coffee and had juice waiting. There was fresh fruit on the table and tea and coffee available when you wanted it. This is a very cozy and relaxing place at a reasonable cost. It is a nice town with walking paths and a castle and only a short drive to interesting sites. We ate at the restaurant directly across the street--I forget the name--but it had fresh and many organic foods and it was really wonderful...more of a sandwich/lunch place than a dinner restaurant but wonderful homemade foods! We were very glad to find the hotel and restaurant.

We just looked for a stop on our way from Dublin to the west coast and found a gem! Don't miss Bastion B&B if you ever come anywhere near. The cosy and spotless rooms are definitely worth it - as are the delicious breakfast, the friendly owners and the lively left bank of Athlone :-)
